It was mile 18 of a 50K on the Pacific Crest Trail when our founder, Jake Morrison, stopped for the fifteenth time to dump gravel from his shoes. The gaiters he was wearing had slipped, stretched, and failed. He finished the race — but he also started sketching.
That night in Bend, Oregon, Jake drew the first SPEEDSHEER prototype on a napkin. The goal was simple: build a gaiter that actually stays put, actually blocks debris, and is so light you forget it's there.
After two years of testing — through Sierra granite, Appalachian mud, desert scree, and Pacific Northwest downpours — SPEEDSHEER was born. Not as a company that makes gear, but as a company that makes gear work.
Three principles that guide every product we make.
Every design decision starts with one question: does this make the runner faster, lighter, or more comfortable? If the answer is no, it doesn't make the cut.
We make gear that survives the trails we love. Reinforced stitching, replaceable parts, and materials chosen for durability — not just for a spec sheet.
We give 1% of every sale to trail conservation. Because if we don't take care of the trails, there won't be anywhere left to run.
From trail-tested prototypes to your doorstep.
Every prototype is tested on real trails by real runners — 100+ miles minimum before it ships.
85% of our production happens in-house at our Bend facility. Quality we can stand behind.
If a SPEEDSHEER gaiter fails due to a manufacturing defect, we replace it. No expiration.
Runners in 120+ countries trust SPEEDSHEER. Our ambassador program spans six continents.
